# AI use in OptiTech

How OptiTech uses AI, and what data it can access

OptiTech uses AI in two places: the AI copilot that works inside your compliance program, and the documentation assistant that helps you find your way around the docs. This page explains how each one works and what data it can access.

## The AI copilot

The [AI copilot](https://neon.com/docs/auth/overview) helps you draft policies in correct regulatory Swedish, map controls across frameworks, and answer incoming security questionnaires. It's grounded in two sources: the Swedish legal texts and regulations that OptiTech is built on, and your own program data, such as your controls, evidence, and documents.

A few principles apply to everything the copilot does:

- **Every answer cites its sources**, so you can trace a claim back to the control, document, or legal text it came from.
- **Every draft goes through human review.** The copilot proposes; you approve. Nothing it writes lands in your program until a person accepts it.
- **Models run in EU data centers.** No customer data is sent to US-based AI providers, in line with OptiTech's [EU data residency](https://neon.com/docs/security/security-overview#eu-data-residency) commitment.
- **Your data is not used to train third-party models.**

To get started with the copilot, see [Start with the AI copilot](https://neon.com/docs/get-started/with-an-agent).

## The documentation assistant

OptiTech offers an AI assistant that answers questions about the product using publicly available sources, such as the OptiTech documentation and other public content. It doesn't process personally identifiable information (PII) or your private program data.
